Class Guide
8 classes are live as of patch 0.5.4b. Any class can eventually use any weapon or skill, but each has a starting identity worth understanding before you commit. Pick based on playstyle, not perceived power, all 8 have a currently-strong league-starter Ascendancy.
Druid
A shapeshifter who bulldozes through enemies using Bear, Wolf, and Wyvern forms, or stays in human form to sling nature magic from range. The class most defined by choosing between direct control and always-on power.
Huntress
An Azmerian spear user with an 'in and out' style of gameplay, mixing melee skills with ranged spear throws to adapt to any situation. The newest pre-1.0 class, and home to the game's most talked-about current combo, Twister plus Whirling Slash.
Mercenary
A versatile ranged fighter who can destroy enemy shields or armour with rapid fire, wall off paths with grenades, or shotgun bosses down at close range. The crossbow's multiple ammo types give this class more built-in combo potential than most.
Monk
A swift, relentless melee fighter who darts in and out of combat, relying on mechanics that build and maintain momentum for maximum impact. Combines fast melee strikes with elemental spellwork depending on the Ascendancy.
Ranger
A bow specialist who shoots foes from afar, combining several projectile skills to lay down suppressing fire against everything from single targets to full packs. The class most focused on pure ranged damage and mobility.
Sorceress
An intelligence-based caster focused on elemental magic, able to devastate hordes with wide-area spells or burst down bosses with a single powerful cast. Switch between staves for different elemental specializations mid-fight.
Warrior
A heavy front-line fighter who delivers powerful, heavy blows to the ground and can shrug off attacks from smaller foes thanks to thick armour. The most straightforward class to pick up if you want a tanky, low-execution playstyle.
Witch
Wields profane rituals, crippling curses, and armies of undead minions. The Witch splits cleanly into two directions: build a minion army and let them tank while you support, or go full direct-damage caster with chaos and bone spells.
