Monk
Overview
A swift, relentless melee fighter who darts in and out of combat, relying on mechanics that build and maintain momentum for maximum impact. Combines fast melee strikes with elemental spellwork depending on the Ascendancy.
Playstyle Notes
- Combo and momentum mechanics (stacking hits, charging bells, building combo points) are central to the class fantasy across all three Ascendancies
- Martial Artist's signature bell mechanic works with zero gear investment, a genuinely rare trait for a top-tier league starter
- The quarterstaff supports both melee and ranged-adjacent playstyles depending on how you build
Good For
- Players who enjoy fluid, combo-driven melee gameplay over static rotations
- Anyone wanting a currently top-rated, gear-independent league starter (Martial Artist)
- Players interested in Breach-synergy chaos builds via Acolyte of Chayula, once past the early game
Choosing an Ascendancy
Choosing an Ascendancy
Martial Artist, the newest of the three, is currently rated the strongest specifically because its Hollow Focus bell mechanic doesn’t need gear investment to function, making it an excellent league starter. Invoker is a close second, offering a genuinely tanky shield-and-evasion defensive model alongside elemental crit scaling. Acolyte of Chayula rounds out the class with a chaos-and-Darkness-resource identity that’s currently the weakest-rated of the three, better suited to players specifically chasing its Breach synergy than as a first pick.
