Sorceress Stormweaver Spark / Arc Build Guide
Overview
The recommended first Ascendancy for nearly every new Sorceress. Spark or Arc as your leveling skill, transitioning into full lightning crit scaling. The easiest of the three Sorceress ascendancies to level with by a wide margin.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Confirmed easiest Sorceress leveling experience across independent guides
- Clean transition path into an Archmage (Mana/ES hybrid) endgame build once your Mana and Energy Shield both cross roughly 3,000
- Strong map-clear speed thanks to lightning's natural chaining behavior
Cons
- Falls behind Chronomancer specifically on boss-kill windows at the very top end
- Archmage transition requires patience, rushing it before the stat threshold makes you weaker, not stronger
Ascendancy Nodes
- Constant Gale — Unlocks Force of Will, an upgraded Arcane Surge that increases in effect as Mana is spent
- Force of Will — 20% of damage is taken from Mana before Life, and Arcane Surge magnitude increases per 10% missing Mana
- Storm's Recollection — Generates Lightning Infusions on cast of Orb of Storms (renamed from Scouring Winds)
- Refracted Infusion — Collecting an Elemental Infusion grants another, helping maintain both Cold and Fire Infusions simultaneously (renamed from Heart of the Storm)
- Multiplying Squalls — Summon multiple Elemental Storms in quick succession (renamed from Rain Dancer), +1 to Elemental Skills
- Tempest Caller — Unlocks Elemental Storm, a damaging vortex summoned based on the skills used
- Strike Twice — Applying two Shocks simultaneously causes enemies to take increased damage from skills and attacks
- Heavy Snows — Targets can be affected by two of your Chills at once; your Chills can Slow up to a maximum of 35%

Putting It Together
Follow the passive tree priority and leveling guide sections above in order, most of this build’s power comes from hitting the right nodes at the right stage rather than rushing everything at once. Cross-check the ascendancy node names against the in-game tree before following this as a precise, click-by-click plan, especially for anything marked as not yet individually verified above.

Passive Tree Priority
- Early game: Lightning damage, Cast speed, Life/ES
- Mid game: Crit chance clusters, Mana nodes for Archmage prep
- End game: Archmage transition once Mana and ES both exceed roughly 3,000, or stay pure Stormweaver for map clear
Leveling Guide
- Act 1–3: Spark or Arc from level 1, take Stormweaver as your first Ascendancy for the easiest leveling curve
- Act 4–6: Add Siphon Elements and Orb of Storms for infusion generation
- Mapping: Decide between staying pure Stormweaver for clear speed or transitioning to Archmage for a higher damage ceiling
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the best Sorceress starter?
Yes, by consensus, Stormweaver is recommended as the first Ascendancy regardless of your eventual endgame target.
What is Archmage and do I need it?
Archmage is a gear-triggered damage scaling shift, not a different ascendancy or passive tree. You don't need it to clear content, but it raises your damage ceiling once you hit the Mana/ES thresholds.
