Full Fight Guide
Atziri, the Red Queen
Atziri, the Red Queen is the Pinnacle Boss of the Vaal Temple endgame introduced with the Fate of the Vaal mechanic (Patch 0.4, December 2025) and carried forward into the Patch 0.5 endgame. She is a two-phase encounter: a humanoid phase against the Red Queen herself, followed by a full-life second phase against Atziri, the Fell Serpent inside a mirror arena. Expect balanced elemental resistances, heavy physical-to-elemental conversion, Corrupted Blood pressure, and arena-filling fire patterns. Killing her opens the Vault of Atziri, which guarantees one unique from a fixed pool and, since Patch 0.5.4, has a chance to drop one of the four new Orb of Sacrifice currencies.
Full Fight Guide
How to Unlock Atziri
Atziri sits at the end of the Vaal Temple room-chain, and reaching her is a multi-run objective (timesaver.gg unlock walkthrough):
- Run the Vaal Temple until you find a Royal Access Chamber (area level 75+). Clear it and interact with the Strange Console at the back.
- The console locks and spawns Xipocado, the Royal Architect. Kill him to obtain his Golem Heart.
- Socket the Golem Heart into the console to unlock the temple’s full path-planning interface.
- Claim and place rooms over subsequent temple runs to carve a connected path to the Vault of Atziri, visible on the temple map.
- Place Doryani’s Contrivance adjacent to Atziri’s Chamber, then clear the Contrivance — a chained sequence of rooms ending in a fight against Doryani — to unlock Atziri’s Chamber.
- Enter Atziri’s Chamber and kill the Red Queen.
Temple Stakes: Death Collapses the Layout
Community farming guides agree on one critical rule: if you die inside the Vaal Temple, the temple destabilises and your built layout is wiped, forcing you to rebuild the chain from scratch (aoeah farming guide, mmogah farming guide). Treat every Atziri attempt as a high-stakes run — there is no free second try on the same temple.
What Changed in Patch 0.5.4
Two entries in the official Patch 0.5.4 patch notes directly affect this encounter:
- Orb of Sacrifice drops: “After killing Atziri, the Red Queen, her Vault now has a chance to drop 1 of 4 new Orb of Sacrifice currency items. These currencies upgrade Corrupted Enchantments on items, at the cost of randomly removing an Explicit Modifier.” Note the wording: a chance, not a guarantee.
- Pinnacle boss resistances: “A number of the Pinnacle Bosses have had their resistances lowered as they were unintentionally too high.” Atziri is not named individually, but the direction is consistent with current data-mined values: poe2db now lists her at 15% fire/cold/lightning resistance, while older community guides cited 30%. The exact patch in which her values changed is not explicitly documented.

Phase-by-Phase Breakdown
Phase One – The Red Queen (100% → ~10%)
Atziri fights in humanoid form, cycling through a large data-mined kit (poe2db skill data):
| Ability | What It Does (Data-Mined) | Cooldown |
|---|---|---|
| Blood Spear | Fires a nova of 50 projectiles in a circle, each dealing 612–918 physical damage and inflicting Corrupted Blood (900% of physical per minute per stack, 3s) plus Maim on hit. Deadliest at point-blank range where projectiles overlap. | 22s |
| Flameblast | Channeled fire explosion dealing 1148–1722 fire damage, 6% crit chance, with 50% more damage at the centre. | 25s |
| Storm Call | Called lightning strike dealing 382–1148 lightning damage. | 25s |
| Spinning Flame Wall | Rotating flame wall: 150% attack damage with 50% more, 80% of physical converted to fire, and 30% more damage at the centre. | 35s |
| Blood Cannons | Summons blood cannons (30s summon cooldown) that fire for 1837–2755 physical damage. | 30s |
| Summon Clones | Summons mirror clones of herself (see the Clone entity in the stats section below). | 60s |
| Summon Cultists | Summons cultist adds. | 45s |
| Blood Warp / Lightning Dash | Mobility skills; Lightning Dash leaves lingering electrified ground (29,892 lightning damage per minute for 5s). | 15s / 20s |
Her basic weapon attacks convert 40% of physical damage to fire or lightning depending on the weapon variant, so neither armour alone nor a single resistance covers her pressure.
Play pattern (community consensus): hold mid-range, orbit her, and never stand point-blank when Blood Spear comes off cooldown (timesaver.gg). GGG’s own preview coverage notes that the crystal horns of her headdress glow before her deadliest abilities, giving a reliable visual telegraph (poe-vault reveal coverage). Kill clones and cultists quickly — clone versions of Flameblast (7s cooldown) and Storm Call (5s cooldown) come far more frequently than the real Atziri’s.
The Mirror Transition (~10%)
At roughly 10% life, Atziri becomes untargetable and walks into a mirror portal; the party is dragged through into the mirror arena, where she emerges at full life as Atziri, the Fell Serpent (olles.ru phase guide, timesaver.gg). Client data confirms the scripted transition (EASAtziriRedQueenP2Transition skill entry on poe2db). Bank your flasks and long cooldowns before pushing her through the threshold.
Phase Two – Atziri, the Fell Serpent
There is no separate poe2db page for the Fell Serpent, so Phase Two ability names and behaviour below are community-documented (olles.ru) rather than data-mined:
- Circle of Blood II: multiple overlapping blood AoEs bloom across the arena in succession — keep moving and never backtrack through an active pool.
- Bolt Storm II: an empowered projectile volley.
- Flame Ring II: the outer edge of the arena ignites in a full ring of fire, forcing you to fight her at close range. Melee-friendly by design; ranged builds must step inside the ring.
- Fire Blast II: an empowered Flameblast — data-mined Empowered Flameblast values show 1722–2583 fire damage with the same 50%-more centre multiplier.
- Crimson Valley: red lightning floods the entire arena except a narrow strip down the centre — hold the centre line until it ends.
- Leap Slam: a gap-closing slam that punishes over-kiting.
The Final 20% – Spreading Corruption
Below roughly 20% life, Spreading Corruption patches expand across the arena floor on top of her regular rotation (olles.ru, game8 drop/fight table). Community consensus identifies a reliable safe spot at the far western edge of the arena: from there you dodge only the abilities aimed at you while ignoring the spreading floor. Save your burst window for this phase and end the fight before the arena closes in.
Preparation & Gear Checklist
- Cap fire resistance. Flameblast, Spinning Flame Wall, Flame Ring II and her fire-converted attacks make fire her dominant element (poe2db skill data).
- Lightning mitigation matters too. Storm Call, Crimson Valley and her electrified ground are pure lightning.
- Physical mitigation for Blood Spear and Blood Cannons — both hit as physical before conversion, and the Blood Cannon hit (1837–2755) is her hardest single data-mined strike.
- A plan for Corrupted Blood. Blood Spear inflicts stacking Corrupted Blood on hit; overlapping nova projectiles stack it fast.
- Sustained DPS, not burst. Two full life bars plus Energy Shield equal to 33% of her Life make this a marathon — pacing and flask economy beat front-loaded damage (timesaver.gg).
- Commit to the attempt. Dying collapses the temple layout (community consensus); if your build is not ready, farm temple rooms instead of gambling the chain.
Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
- Facetanking the Blood Spear nova. All 50 projectiles originate on her body; at point-blank range they overlap for massive physical damage plus instant Corrupted Blood stacks. Hold mid-range whenever Blood Spear is due.
- Standing at the centre of Flameblast. The centre takes 50% more damage — 1722–2583 base fire in its Empowered form. The moment the channel starts, walk out; do not finish a cast first.
- Ignoring the clones. Clone Flameblasts cycle every 7 seconds and clone Storm Calls every 5. Left alive, clones turn the arena into overlapping telegraphs. Swap to them immediately.
- Pushing the 10% threshold at a bad time. The mirror transition is untargetable dead time — popping it mid-Flameblast or with empty flasks wastes your best window. Control the push.
- Kiting backwards in Phase Two. Flame Ring II punishes ranged kiting by igniting the outer arena, and Spreading Corruption punishes blind backpedals. Fight inside the ring and path toward the far-west safe spot for the last 20%.
- Underestimating the stakes. A death is not a retry — it is a collapsed temple and a rebuilt unlock chain.
Loot Table & Rewards
Vault of Atziri
Per the community wiki summary on poe2db, the Vault guarantees one of five uniques: Drillneck, Atziri’s Splendour, Atziri’s Rule, Atziri’s Contempt, or Flesh Crucible. It additionally drops a magic or rare Sacrificial Regalia body armour base, Atziri’s Impatience, and Zerphi’s Infamy. Community drop tables also report Atziri’s Step (Cinched Boots) among her unique drops (game8).
Since Patch 0.5.4, the Vault also has a chance to drop 1 of 4 Orb of Sacrifice currencies (official patch notes). Each Orb upgrades a Corrupted Enchantment on its item class at the cost of randomly removing an explicit modifier; the four variants are Blood (amulets), Flesh (body armour), Mind (helmets) and Soul (weapons) (timesaver.gg Orb of Sacrifice guide).
Royal Trove (Currency Chest)
The temple’s Royal Trove draws from a data-mined currency pool including Ancient Infuser, Architect’s Orb, Core Destabiliser, Crystallised Corruption, Orb of Extraction, Vaal Cultivation Orb, Vaal Infuser and Vaal Siphoner, plus standard/advanced/perfect currency tiers (poe2db). Notably, the Architect’s Orb re-corrupts an already-corrupted item unpredictably — or destroys it.
Boss Drop Modifiers (Data-Mined)
Atziri carries +800% Item Quantity and +3200% Item Rarity, an additional +4800% Item Rarity as a tier-3 boss, +25% Map Key drop chance, +9000% Experience, and a guaranteed rare item (poe2db).
Tips for Specific Builds
- Ranger / Pathfinder: your entire game plan is lateral movement — orbit at mid-range so Blood Spear novas spread harmlessly, and bank mobility for Flame Ring II, which forcibly compresses the arena onto the boss. Projectile builds should also pre-plan for clone phases, since clone Flameblasts out-cycle the real ones.
- Witch / Blood Mage: minions and lingering effects continue working through the untargetable mirror transition, making the 10% push far less punishing. Cultist and clone summons are free splash targets; keep offerings and curses rolling so Corrupted Blood pressure never forces you to disengage.
- Warrior / Titan: Phase Two is built for you — Flame Ring II rewards staying in melee range, where most of her nova patterns whiff behind her. The price is discipline: you must walk out of every Flameblast channel at point-blank and respect the Blood Cannon wind-up, her hardest data-mined hit.
Boss Stats & Damage Profile (Data-Mined)
All values from poe2db’s Atziri, the Red Queen page at the data-mined monster level 68:
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Monster Level | 68 |
| Life | 742% base — 61,267 |
| Energy Shield | 33% of Life — 20,218 |
| Armour / Evasion | +33% each — 3,209 / 942 |
| Damage (attack & spell) | 380% — 886 |
| Accuracy | 2,502 |
| Critical Chance / Bonus | 5% / +30% |
| Resistances | 15% Fire / 15% Cold / 15% Lightning / 0% Chaos |
| Attack Time / Range | 1.5s / 12–22 |
| Model Size / Movement | 88% / very slow |
| Tags | cultist, demon, humanoid, red_blood, very_slow_movement |
| Experience | 114,536 (with +9000% modifier) |
On the resistance numbers: older community guides cite 30% elemental resistances, but current poe2db data lists 15% for the boss herself — the 30% figures on the same page belong to the Bind Spectre (141 reservation) and Tame Beast (60% reservation) versions of the monster. Patch 0.5.4 states that “a number of the Pinnacle Bosses have had their resistances lowered as they were unintentionally too high” (patch notes); Atziri is not named individually, but the data-mined 15% is consistent with that direction.
The Clone entity: her summoned mirror clones are a separate monster entry — 186% base Life (15,358 at level 68) with 0% resistances across the board, and much faster ability cycles: clone Flameblast every 7s, clone Storm Call every 5s, clone Blood Spear every 9s. Clones are fragile and must die immediately.
Full Unique Drop Pool
All six uniques are documented on poe2db with full rolls:
- Atziri’s Rule (Reflecting Staff, lvl 70): Grants Mirror of Refraction; +3–5 to Level of all Corrupted Spell Skill Gems; spells that cost Life gain 80–120% of damage as extra Physical; 10–20% increased maximum Life, cast speed and +20–30 Intelligence.
- Drillneck (Penetrating Quiver, lvl 55): 100% pierce chance; projectiles return to you after piercing 2–4 times and gain 42–64% increased damage and critical hit chance per enemy pierced; +60–90 Life, 8–12% attack speed, Deflection equal to 24–32% of Evasion.
- Atziri’s Splendour (Sacrificial Regalia body armour, lvl 65): +1 to Level of all Corrupted Skill Gems; only Soul Cores can be socketed (and they apply to a random equipment type); no attribute requirements; 80–120% increased Armour, Evasion and Energy Shield; corrupted gems’ mana costs convert to Life.
- Atziri’s Contempt (Pronged Spear, lvl 72): Grants Spear Throw and Shattering Spite; spear hits inflict Bloodstone Lance (up to 30 stacks on a single target); 100–120% increased physical, plus flat fire (83–97 to 123–153) and lightning (1 to 193–207) damage, 10–16% attack speed, 60–80% Presence area.
- Atziri’s Step (Cinched Boots, lvl 65): 30% movement speed; Deflection equal to 40–60% of Evasion; hits that are not Deflected lightly stun you; +70–100 Life, 80–120% Evasion, −12 to −6% damage reduction from Deflection.
- Flesh Crucible (Diamond Jewel, lvl 20, limit 1): Grants a random Keystone with a random (10–20)% less downside to a related stat; always Corrupted.
Community Consensus
- Watch the horns. The crystal horns of her headdress glow before her biggest abilities — GGG’s own reveal footage uses this as the intended telegraph (poe-vault).
- Orbit, don’t facetank. Mid-range circling neutralises Blood Spear and most Phase One pressure; several guides describe safe circling directly behind her during specific casts (timesaver.gg, aoeah).
- Far-west safe spot. During the final 20% Spreading Corruption, the far western arena edge is the community-verified hold position (olles.ru).
- Protect the temple. Death collapses the layout; many players farm the off-path snake rooms for Vaal currency and only attempt Atziri once the chain is fully built (mmogah).
- Phase Two rewards aggression. Flame Ring II and Crimson Valley both punish distance — the community-standard Phase Two plan is close-range uptime inside the ring, centre-line discipline during Crimson Valley, and an early burst finish before Spreading Corruption closes the arena.
